“About 3 years ago I was fat, miserable, depressed and scared. I’m an RN you see, and I have seen people die from the long term effects of morbid obesity. I was ashamed and felt like a hypocrite. I ate too much, drank and smoked too much, and was making everything and everyone a priority except for me! I had plantar fasciitis in both feet, could barely walk and was about to be on blood pressure meds.

I made the decision to change my life and had RNY gastric bypass surgery. I vowed that day to step outside of my comfort zone in every way possible. As soon as I was cleared to exercise, I took a spin class. Then I put a request on FB for gym recommendations and landed on this place with personal trainers and more personalized workouts. I was so self conscious and intimidated. But I was hungry. Along the way I started running. I started working on me. My mind, my heart and my soul. I met this really cool chick who I hit it off with. She was a beast of a trainer and I started scheduling my workouts when I knew she was there. We became fast friends. Every once in a while the universe connects you with someone who’s meant to be in you life. Terri McCartney is one of those people for me .

Terri is such a knowledgeable and motivating trainer. She knows how to push you because she knows what you can do even when you don’t!! Terri is not only knowledgeable about fitness but has supported me with nutritional coaching and guidance as well. We share recipes and talk often about real life strategies to stay committed to a healthy lifestyle.

While my transformation took 2 years of hard work and commitment, I’m amazed every day at my strength and ability. I’ve lost over 130 pounds, but what I’ve gained can’t be measured. I have gained a quality of life I did not think was possible.

“I have known Terri for a few years. She did group trainings at a local place where I was training. I suppose I would be considered a health enthusiast. I love working out, running, and lifting; but my diet has always been my nemesis. Then COVID hit, gyms closed, and the world stopped. There I was continuing to mindlessly eat as if I was still training hard (I wasn't!). As you can imagine the weight very quickly came on, clothes started to not fit, and I found myself sinking into an unhealthy and depressed state. I had been watching everything Terri was doing on Facebook. One day I reached out to just talk. I figured she knew me before and she would have some advice. She was neither judgmental nor pushing her training. Terri, simply and sincerely, gave me her time and thoughts about things I should consider changing. She was legitimately just concerned about me! I say all of this to drive home the point that I know what it feels like to have to start over, to dig out and regroup. It is the best thing Terri has taught me - You can live your life AND be fit! I started training with Terri in September of 2020. She has helped me with diet, supplements and proper form when working out. The diet was really dialed in by October; but since October 12 I have lost 8 pounds, my clothes fit fantastic and I have TONS of energy. You will never be alone or feel alone on this fitness journey. Terri has created a community of like-minded women who are unbelievably supportive of each other.
